Job Summary: As Mechanical Engineering & Document Control Manager, will lead the engineering teams in USA and India responsible for R&D Mechanical Engineering, Document Control, Engineered to Order (Specials Group), Sustaining Engineering, and Continuous improvement and support current manufacturing. As an engineering leader, this position will work closely with sales, manufacturing, purchasing, RMA, and quality. Managing escalated customer cases and issues is also within the scope of work. Lead and manage custom engineering of enclosures for Power Conversion Systems, particularly on-line, Double Conversion Uninterruptible Power System (UPS) and Power Distribution Units (PDU). The candidate will touch every part of the development cycle, from conceptual design, system engineering, and parts selection to implementation, testing, and qualification for standard product derivation systems. The candidate must lead efforts driving value engineering, qualifying alternate parts and vendors, and continuously evolving the product range. Key Responsibilities: Lead Engineering to Order (Specials) organization and engage with sales/customers from the bid specification stage to delivering an engineered preproduction model(s). Initiate accurate documentation release for the future production build of this product. Manage the AMETEK IntelliPower product family tree to ensure 100% of supported SKU’s have completed documentation & design material. Leverage the family tree to enhance sales' ability to find “best fit” options for customers and utilize documents to provide input to sales. Lead mechanical design for R&D, working closely with the product development team, participating in design reviews, and being the “voice of the customer” in driving defect-free design. Lead agency test to meet critical industry standards (MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-167-1, MIL-DTL-901, DO-160). Own complete system engineering layout and parts selection responsibility for Engineering to Order (Specials) projects. Lead Mechanical Engineering and support production, RMA, and highly escalated customer cases, failure analysis & drive Value Engineering (VA/VE) initiatives. Work closely with the quality team and drive continuous improvement of released products. Own parts obsolesce and alternate component management to ensure business continuity and qualify alternate design and components, as necessary. Create and manage tasks in alignment with long-term company and corporate goals. Ensuring goals are met in areas including customer satisfaction, safety, quality, and team performance. As a Change Control Board (CCB) member, represent engineering and support decision-making. Responsible for signing off engineering change notifications (ECN), reviewing for accuracy, and guiding closure. Produce accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle. Analyzing program risks and triggering actions. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a suitable combination of work experience and training. 5 years relevant experience with electro-mechanical assemblies. Experience troubleshooting design problems and preparing design variations when needed, with minimal supervision. Experience with designing thermal mitigation and calculating airflow cooling requirements for electronics. 2 years of experience managing people. Managing employees globally is a plus. Desired Qualifications: Ability to incorporate lean practices in design and workflow. Knowledge of CNC programming. Knowledge of designing and developing new components and assemblies and recommending improvements. Ability to develop detailed drawings of electro-mechanical components and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor. Ability to self-check drawings for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to company standards. Ability to effectively prioritize and manage project requests. Knowledge of parts, assemblies, constraints, BOM’s, and basic understanding of GD&T within Inventor. Ability to control documents and part numbers using Autodesk Vault and the ERP system. Knowledge of performing FEA analysis of parts or assemblies as requested. Ability to learn standards and propose solutions to meet standards.
