Qualifications

We are currently seeking a Licensed Mechanical Engineer to join our Buildings Engineering Group in Dallas, TX

The position competently performs all conventional aspects of engineering design and development, including the planning and conducting of work requiring more advanced techniques. The candidate will be part of a team that serves clients in all markets including Commercial, Health, Science, Aviation and Federal.

Job Summary:

  • This position requires independent judgment in evaluation, selection, and adaptation/modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria, and must be able to independently solve problems and make decisions
  • Supervision and guidance mainly concern overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters. Problems faced are difficult and often complex
  • Provides professional engineering consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large complex projects, often requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures and independently applying advanced engineering concepts and designs
  • Develops and evaluates engineering reports, plans and specification criteria for a variety of projects, engineering design and facility development, design detailing, code and criteria analysis, construction document production, and construction administration
  • Coordinates with a diversified project team, including development of client communication, proposal coordination, marketing, presentations, and management of other discipline-related activities
  • Prepares specifications, scaled drawings and proposals. Ensures finished plans, specifications, and approval of materials and construction.
  • Meets with clients to determine objectives and requirements for executing desired scope
  • Reviews junior staff's work for technical accuracy and provides technical guidance to other professionals and technicians. May also lead a discipline team or small multidisciplinary teams to complete projects
  • Performs quality control reviews and ensures achievement of key milestones. Performs as-needed field reviews and observations of ongoing construction projects to maintain and increase understanding of construction practices and design applications
  • Maintains professional registration and licensure by ensuring conformance with professional, ethical, educational, and discipline practice requirements. Remains knowledgeable of all applicable federal, state, and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances that are pertinent to respective discipline

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
  • Currently holds PE license, in good standing
  • 7+ year's previous MEP design experience
    • This experience includes working on parts of a major project or multiple moderate-sized projects
    • Proven experience providing technical guidance to entry/junior staff. This includes reviewing others' work for technical
      accuracy
  • Working knowledge of FBC, IBC, ASHRAE, and other NFPA codes
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal relationship skills
  • Demonstrated capability in leadership of design teams
  • Experience with managing staff
  • Experience working on Building and site design
  • Ability and willingness to travel in the US and internationally
  • Experience with REVIT

Preferred Qualification:

  • Ability to participate in business development, marketing, and client coordination
  • The ability to obtain and maintain engineering licensure in multiple states is desired
  • NCEES certification a plus
