The Residential Property Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day accounting functions for four residential apartment buildings, two located in DC (696 units), one located in Clarendon, Virginia (244 units), and one located in Ballston, Virginia (491). This position will be based out of our Bethesda, MD office.

Accountant I (Residential) - DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Ability to understand and interpret residential leases
  • Preparation of monthly rent rolls and miscellaneous account billings
  • Maintain tenant receivables including but not limited to reviewing charges, cash applications and researching any discrepancies
  • Enter vendor invoices and process weekly check runs
  • Prepare journal entries and monthly accruals
  • Prepare monthly operating statements & explain variances to budget
  • Monthly account reconciliations
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Cash Management/Reporting

Accountant I (Residential) - SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent from four-year college or commensurate work-related experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience with residential accounting, Yardi software and rent control a plus
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of management and tenants
  • Possessing strong communication skills
  • Detail oriented, take charge, multi-task
  • Able to meet multiple priorities and deadlines
