Description

SAIC is seeking an Engineering Technician V to support the US Navy in Crane, IN.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Provides logistics, engineering, and technical support for assigned Maritime Electronic Warfare systems and equipment during engineering investigations, engineering change proposals, depot testing, and resolution of Product Quality Deficiency Reports (PQDRs).
  • Provide comments and redlined drawings for Installation Control Drawings (ICDs) by gathering data and performing tests and evaluations.
  • Utilizing Government Furnished Information (GFI), will review ship specific installation drawings and determine the total required applicable acquired material based on installation schedule and timing.
  • Evaluate program documentation, such as ICDs, SHIPALT Installation Drawings (SIDs), and block diagrams to determine material requirements and will provide the Government Logistics Lead with any part number changes.
  • Work with the Fleet Support Team to monitor and respond to Casualty Reports (CASREPS) via email.
  • Attend daily CASREP briefings with NSWC Crane Fleet Support Team and will use data collected from CASREP reports, Technical Manual Deficiency/Evaluation Reports, Preventive Maintenance Support Feedback Reports, as well as reliability, maintainability, and availability metrics obtained from NSWC Corona to update bi-monthly Sustainment Execution Reports.
  • Complete weekly Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Operating Material and Supplies (OM&S) inventory download on the official complete list of procurement Work Breakdown Structures (WBSs) and pre-expensed WBSs for project material disposition planning, allocation, and disposition prior to obligating to any installation.
  • For provisioned material lines not available within designated WBS structure in ERP NSWC Crane inventory, incumbent will conduct market research to determine availability and provide information to the customer. Incumbent will track material status and inventory through ERP and notify the customer upon receipt of material.
  • Incorporate status into Ship specific tracking in the government database and will validate receipted material is labeled with ship change document number, ship installation drawing number, drawing line item number, and the ship to which it is assigned.
  • Maintain all inventory management and control in ERP and view inventory utilizing Ordnance Information System (OIS) for Ordnance.
  • Generate OM&S Request Form, Request for Issue(s) (RFIs), or Request for Inductions Form located on iPDM in response to Fleet failures.
  • Provide inventory management support consisting of maintaining records of inert inventory to include location, condition codes, and will work with NSWC Crane Inert Ordnance Points of Contact (POCs) to gain inert certification for empty canisters, equipment used for displays, training rounds, and demilitarized material.
  • Populate monthly Build Plan for rounds used to generate Build Status Sheets (BSS) for each Decoy when reassembled.
  • Provide support for the disposal effort of Government equipment, identified by the Government as "beyond economical repair" to properly dispose of any material that requires Defense Reutilization and Marketing Office (DRMO).
  • Will operate Weight Handling Equipment (WHE)
Job duties include but not limited to:
  • Supports engineering activities such as design, test, checkout, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electro mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment. Applications may include electronic circuits, photonics and logic systems.
  • A wide and comprehensive acquaintance with, and understanding of, both general and specific aspects of the job and their practical application to complex problems and situations ordinarily encountered.
  • Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions.
  • Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions.
  • Collects, maintains, organizes, compiles, and manipulates technical data.
  • Prepares engineering documentation, reports, drawings (sketches/flow charts/diagrams/schematics, etc.).
  • Performs mathematical calculations per engineering specifications.
Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS
  • Associate's Degree in related discipline and nine (9) years of related experience; OR High School Diploma or equivalent and eleven (11) years of related experience
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen
  • At a minimum, Interim Secret Clearance required to start. Must be able to obtain a Full DOD Secret Clearance
  • Able to use mathematics and technical data to model, analyze and solve simple and complex problems
  • Experience reading and preparing schematics, diagrams and other engineering documentation
  • Able to operate Weight Handling Equipment (examples: forklift, pallet jack and overhead crane)
