General Summary:

The CDL Driver reports to the Shipping/Logistics Coordinator and will be primarily responsible for delivering shipments from Ace Engineering and Fabrication to the job sites and Division warehouses at Ace Electric. These shipments consist of construction supplies, equipment and fabricated pieces designed for the job sites.


Ace Electric has CDL Drivers that will drive the Ace Semi with a sleeper cab and others that will drive Ford F550 trucks pulling a 40’ trailer.


Currently, shipments are to job sites in the following states: GA, FL, SC, NC, VA, AL, LA & TX.


Preferred Job Skills:

Must possess excellent driving skills to safely operate and maneuver a large vehicle. Requires a high level of physical and mental stamina. Must possess effective communication skills.


Mandatory Hiring Requirements:

References, Clean Background Check, Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), Drug Screen Testing, Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License, DOT Medical Card.


Responsibilities:

  • Must adhere to Ace Electric’s Safety Program.
  • Provides delivery of material to customer sites.
  • Maintains delivery vehicle in clean, good working condition and monitors maintenance and mileage data.
  • Maintains daily driver logs and vehicle inspection sheets.
  • Must be observant and adhere to all local, state and federal traffic and safety regulations.
  • May assist with loading and unloading material at the Division and job sites.
  • Performs all aspects of the job as accurately and efficiently as possible while providing exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Position Requirements:

  • License: Valid Class A, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.
  • Certifications/Testing: Department of Transportation (DOT) Medical Card required.
  • Education: High School Graduate or GED.
  • Experience: 1 year of experience preferred.


Working Conditions:

  • Job requires working in all weather elements; heat, cold, rain, or snow, depending on job location and time of year.
  • Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Johns).
  • Must wear all personal protective equipment as required.
  • Must be able to regularly work 40 hours per week plus overtime as required. Night shifts, weekends, and out-of-town work may be required.
  • Travel required.

Required Physical/Mental Functions:

  • Comprehend and practice safe work procedures as outlined in Company Safety Handbook.
  • Operate company trucks with manual and automatic transmission.
  • Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, work site directions, and written instructions.
  • Must hear and see well (either natural or with correction).
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.
  • Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds on an occasional basis, move up to 15-50 pounds on a frequent basis and move up to 10 pounds on a constant basis.
  • Tolerant to prolonged sitting, standing and movement on foot.
  • Climb ladders (all types).
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
