Job Title: Yard Driver

Department: Shipping/Warehouse

Reports to: Warehouse Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt


Job Summary

We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Yard Driver to join our team. As a Yard Driver, you will be responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers within our yard. You will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and must be able to work independently as well as part of a team. Additional duties include preparing customer orders for shipping, receiving material and equipment, loading, and unloading trucks, and meeting customer delivery requirements. Assigned daily duties where needed within the shipping and receiving department. Must follow Altor Solutions' standards for Safety, Housekeeping, Quality and Production in an efficient and safe manner.

Requirements:

· High school diploma or equivalent.

· Class A CDL driver's license and clean driving record.

· Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Yard Driver or similar role.

· Ability to operate yard trucks and other equipment safely and efficiently.

· Ability to operate a forklift of all types proficiently.

· Ability to hand load boxes and bundles of product onto truck.

· Ability to thoroughly and accurately complete transactions within our ERP computer systems.

· Must be proficient in reading tape measurement and general mathematics with or without the use of a calculator.

· Must be able to follow instructions, read, write, and speak English as needed to operate machines and complete paperwork.

· Must be able to operate in outside warehouses independently and proficiently.

· Must be able to work effectively in general manufacturing settings and conditions.

· Ability to lift/ carry up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally with help.


Responsibilities

· Safely and efficiently move trailers within the yard.

· Conduct daily safety checks on equipment.

· Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to management.

· Work with maintenance team on scheduled PM's and other equipment maintenance.

· Picking, Loading, and billing of products for shipment to customers.

· Unloading, completing quality checks, receiving, and warehousing incoming products.

· Conduct accurate and complete data collection and paperwork.

· Communicate effectively with fellow team members and leadership.

· Complete work on schedule and accurately.

· Must be able to operate in outside warehouses independently and proficiently.

· Must be able to work effectively in general manufacturing settings and conditions.

· Follow all safety procedures and regulations.

· Ability to lift/ carry up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally with help.

· Must be able to stand and walk for 7 to 9 hours per day.


Schedules

1st shift hours are 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.


Education and Experience

· High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.

· Class A CDL driver's license and clean driving record.

· 6-12 months logistics and warehouse experience.

· Forklift Certification within 30 days of job entry date.

· Familiarity with Radio Frequency (RF) equipment is preferred.


Physical Demands

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers; talk and hear. Frequently required to reach, bend, squat, stretch, and twist. Regularly required to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds with help. Regularly required to stand and walk during the entire shift. Must be able to work efficiently and repetitively with hands and have physical strength, stamina, and coordination to perform duties.


Work Environment

The work environment is typical of most manufacturing environments. The noise level in the work environment is usually high with ear protection required. Will work in a dusty and sometimes wet environment as well as cold/hot/humid areas based on the seasons.
