JOB PURPOSE: Overnight Patrol is responsible for protecting employees and guests as well as personal and company property.

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Ensuring the safety of both guests and employees is the highest priority.
  • Patrol areas as assigned, responding to calls for service, observation of surroundings for violations park policy.
  • Maintain a physical presence in the assigned patrol area including the campground, theme park, and park perimeter.
  • Monitor all security dispatches and situations and respond as directed or according to procedures established by the Safety/Security Manager, Security Supervisor, Shift Supervisor or Sergeant.
  • Collect and preserve important information.
  • Assist in the collection of witnesses/statements.
  • Respond to campground guest requests and inquiries with politeness and attention.
  • Assist the guest as required to the best of your ability by referring them to the Camping Office or your supervisors as necessary.
  • Receive and retain information transmitted by radio communications on calls for service, lookouts, etc. Proper evaluation of the information and determination of the appropriate course of action consistent with training and procedure, often under very stressful circumstances.
  • Intervene in physical altercations and subdue attacking or resisting subjects.
  • Exercise good judgment in determining course of action, when to use force and the appropriate level of force, with emphasis on problem solving techniques and alternative solutions.
  • Submit comprehensive and legible incident reports within specified time periods, using correct grammar, spelling, and sentence structure.
  • Ability to generate computer-based incident reports.
  • Mediate disputes and give advice regarding policies and procedures. Perform intervention with persons involved in domestic disputes or similar situations.
  • Operate emergency vehicles under normal and emergency driving conditions, including under inclement weather conditions. Driving while incorporating good defensive driving techniques which require superior reflexes and superior hand, foot, and eye coordination.
  • Assimilate pertinent information and be able to identify unwanted, unregistered vehicles or subjects by sight.
  • Follow procedures in utilizing the campground warning system. Verbal and written warnings along with site evictions.
  • Physically able to enter and exit the patrol car multiple times during a shift.
  • Conduct extended periods of stationary or mobile visual and/or audio surveillance.
  • Detect and stop violators of campground traffic rules for guest safety.

 

 

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a high school or GED certificate to be certified as a Security Officer.
  • Must have a current, valid, Security License or have completed the finger-imaging, certification and application criteria and have met all New York State requirements prior to starting work.
  • Successful completion of all required Security Guard training as defined by the New York State Division of Licensing Services. After hire, applicants must continue to meet current licensing requirements to maintain a security guard license as defined by the New York State Division of Licensing Services.
  • Valid state Driver’s License and successful completion of Six Flags Darien Lake Vehicle Training program.
  • Guest focused, team player, and trustworthy.
  • Good communication skills-both written and oral in at least English.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

All other duties that is assigned or necessary in order to support the Safety/Security Departments and the park as a whole.   • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. This position requires occasional work in or around wetness, confined spaces-cramped quarters, heights, noise, detergents/chemicals, mechanical hazards, moving objects, fumes/odors, dust, mists, gases, or vibrations. The noise level is generally moderate.
