Machinist

Nammo Defense Systems Inc., a defense contractor, manufactures and supports shoulder-fired systems; energetic material solutions such as aircraft emergency escape systems, actuation devices, rocket motors, warheads, medium & large caliber ammunitions, mortar ammunition; and composite solutions including carbon fiber tubes and composite aero-structures.

Primary Responsibilities as a Machinist
• Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and setup requirements
• Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut
• Operates and observes machine operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required
• Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications
• Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly
• Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines and equipment and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performance
• Develops specifications from general descriptions and draws sketches of parts or products to be fabricated
• Confers with engineers, production personnel, programmers or others to resolve machining or assembly problems

Required Experience & Skills for a Machinist
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 7- 10 years verifiable related experience
• Proficient MS Office Suite experience and skills
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
• Excellent math skills as related to the tool making role is a must
• Understand machine and cutting tool concepts, applications, and feeds/speeds
• Set up and operate machining equipment
• Experience with running and programming both CNC and manual mills, lathes, manual grinders, and cut off saws
• Team Center and Costpoint operation experience
• Knowledge of Solid Edge Cad system
• Ability to obtain and maintain an ATF Processor license
