Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Land Surveying to lead our surveying department. The Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of land surveying projects, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in land surveying, strong leadership skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality results. Key Responsibilities: Leadership and Management: Provide strategic direction and leadership to the land surveying department. Build and manage a team of surveyors and support staff, including hiring, training, and performance management. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the department. Project Management: Oversee all phases of land surveying projects, from planning and fieldwork to data analysis and reporting. Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with client requirements and regulatory standards. Coordinate with other departments and external stakeholders to facilitate smooth project execution. Technical Expertise: Stay abreast of advances in land surveying technology, methodologies, and regulations. Provide technical guidance and support to surveying staff, including reviewing survey data, resolving technical issues, and ensuring accuracy and quality control. Develop and implement best practices and standardized procedures for land surveying activities. Client Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and expectations. Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on surveying projects, addressing concerns and providing regular updates. Identify opportunities for business development and expansion of surveying services. Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards pertaining to land surveying. Mitigate risks associated with surveying projects by identifying potential issues and implementing appropriate measures to address them. Conduct periodic reviews and audits to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred. Minimum of 8 years of experience in land surveying, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Have extensive experience in boundary determination, topographic mapping, and marine surveys; ALTA surveys and title surveys; utility, route, and ROW surveys; subdivisions, precise construction layout and as-built surveys. Deal Are licensed in NY as a Land Surveyor with licensure Have 6 years of applicable land survey experience and be proficient with data processing and plan preparation in ACAD Civil 3D and Carlson Survey software. Has reviewed Point Cloud Data Have previous supervisory experience of survey department staff both in the office and in the field. Familiarity with different agency works SCA, NYCHA, DDC, DOT, NYCT Open to the use of new technology
