Description:

Samson, the worldwide leader in high performance cordage, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Manager who will be responsible for managing the Quality and Manufacturing Engineering departments while meeting strategic objectives and providing the highest levels of quality and service. The Manufacturing Engineering Manager will also be responsible for practicing a high level of business ethics, quality, professionalism, and safety in all activities in accordance with Samson strategy and core values.

  • Experienced with ISO standards and Total Quality Management systems.
  • Knowledgeable of Lean Manufacturing processes with demonstrated working knowledge and experience.

  • A strong communicator who can communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing and present information in a concise and effective way
  • Detail oriented.
  • An articulate presenter who effectively presents information and responds to questions from individuals and/or groups within the organization.
  • A proficient computer user with skills in Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new systems.
  • A creative problem solver with the ability to recommend and implement solutions.
  • Able to set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Trustworthy and able to handle confidential and sensitive information.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage and direct the activities for the Quality and Manufacturing Engineering departments across multiple manufacturing facilities.
  • Develop and retain a high performing team through effective hiring, coaching, performance management, and training.
  • Oversee quality management systems, internal auditing, quality training, standard product testing and ISO certification.
  • Lead the root cause and corrective action process for quality issues across the company. Work cooperatively with other departments to identify, contain, document, implement and communicate root cause and corrective actions for quality issues.
  • Identify manufacturing process and equipment improvement opportunities, implement solutions, and ensure benefits are realized and results effectively communicated.
  • Collaborate with R&D efforts to support new product introductions and ensure new products are successfully transferred from prototype and scaleup to full scale manufacturing.
  • Maintain, develop and revise Standard Operating Procedures to integrate process improvements, capital solutions (equipment), supplier changes and new product introductions.
  • Lead lean and other continuous improvement programs to improve safety, quality, service and efficiency. Support 5s and Kaizen events throughout the organization.
  • Directly support sourcing initiatives including product evaluation, manufacturing process documentation, knowledge transfer, and site visits as required.

What You Should Have:

Education

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Science and/or Engineering, with emphasis in process engineering materials Science or other related field of study (relevant experience may be substituted for education).

Experience

  • Required: Five (5) years of relevant working experience, three (3) years of management experience, and three (3) years of experience with ISO standards and Total Quality Management systems.

Compensation:

Targeted hiring wage: $105,000 to $128,000 annually

Hiring rate will depend on qualifications and experience.


Samson has established wage scales for all of our positions, which are based on a minimum and maximum. The targeted hiring rate above is set to allow for employee's growth within the role. The full range for this position is $102,580 (min) - $153,871 (max) annually.
