THE JOB

We are currently seeking a Buyer II / Inventory Coordinator to be responsible for basic buying duties and coordinating warehouse operations including shipping/receiving, warehousing, material distribution, order expediting, and inventory management. This position should expect to issue Request for Quotes (RFQs) and evaluate quotes to ensure the best cost is achieved while interpreting purchasing procedures to departments and vendors as a specialist in assigned material categories in addition to accepting and processing purchase requisitions, managing vendor relationships, including requests and negotiations, preparing purchase orders, and tracking purchases and supplies.

  • Groups and consolidates requisitions, prepares RFQs, submits to appropriate vendors, and issues purchase orders that meet the best pricing and delivery requirements. (Right Part, Right Place, Right Time).
  • Oversees warehouse inventory, shipping and receiving, part distribution and pick up processes. Identifies and makes recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Regularly organizes warehouses. Keeps areas clean and free of debris.
  • Receives goods, accurately and timely, and enters receipt into Microsoft Great Plains.
  • Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages and timely corresponds with vendors and buyers to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Loads, unloads, and moves materials using a forklift and pallet jack as needed.
  • Ensures prompt and efficient delivery of materials to proper locations. Performs or coordinates delivery services as needed.
  • Conducts routine inventory cycle counts and prepares reports accordingly.
  • Processes inventory purchases based on stock levels and order point quantities. Sorts, organizes, and places materials on racks, shelves, or bins in warehouse as needed.
  • Prepares all outgoing shipments for Company, including packing and banding of large items, preparing bills of lading, and contacting freight carriers to arrange pick-up and delivery.
  • Provides pick-up and delivery of supplies, mail, and other products as required throughout the Company.
  • Fulfills vessel inventory requests, including grocery orders, and distributes items to the appropriate locations.
  • Works with other functional areas (i.e. operations and maintenance) to ensure alignment of priorities and resolve inventory issues and concerns.
  • Provides communication between vendors and requestors for order status, delivery updates, lead time changes, and any purchasing problem resolutions.
  • Works on material cost reduction initiatives and performs cost savings analysis.

  • Hiring Wage Range: $32.56 - $33.40 / hour (depending on experience and qualifications); Position Wage Range: $32.56 - $38.41 / hour

THE CATCH

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, two years’ Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) purchasing experience, and two years’ experience in a warehouse/shipping department and inventory management are required.
  • Experience using material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack) is also required.
  • This candidate must possess knowledge of purchasing practices and procedures, and strong organizational, time-management and planning skills while having the ability to work independently, organize, prioritize, and complete and follow-up on work assignments.
  • Must maintain a current, valid driver’s license and insurable driving record in order to operate company owned vehicles.
  • Must obtain and maintain a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain a forklift certification.
  • Physical / Environmental Requirements:
    • Requires a combination of sitting, standing, walking and may require lifting up to 50 pounds performed mainly in a warehouse environment.
