Position Summary


In coordination with the Engagement Manager and team, the Communications Fellow will work to support the marketing, promotion, and creative needs of the Grange Insurance Audubon Center. This position will assist in creating, leveraging and elevating the center story and various programs, such as Art at Audubon across various platforms and audiences. The internship hours are approximately 40 hours weekly and lasting 10 weeks.


Compensation:


$15.00 / hour


Essential Functions


  • Collaborate with center staff to create social media content daily.

  • Generate marketing materials for center visitors, program partners and donors.

  • Partner with the Engagement Manager to create a 2025 sponsorship program.

  • Assist with website updates and press releases.

  • Create content for center activities for local listings opportunities and on site digital tv.

  • Assist center staff with special events.

  • Develop skills using social media posting tool, Zoho.

  • Create a portfolio of newsletters, press releases, social media posts and videos.

  • Partner and create relationships with community organizations who are interested in sponsoring at the center.

  • Professional development experience with AGL communications staff.


  • Qualifications and Experience


  • College students in their junior or senior year.

  • 0-2 years of relevant job experience in outreach and engagement, organizing, communication, youth development, education, or conservation. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.

  • A basic familiarity with birds and native plants of the region and an enthusiasm for outdoor activities desired.

  • Personal commitment to Audubon’s conservation mission including a passion for expanding equity, diversity and inclusion in the environmental field.

  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate diverse audiences.

  • Must be well-organized and responsible with the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.

  • Weekly travel throughout Central Ohio required and occasional travel within the US, roughly two times per year.

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs, and ability to travers up to 5 miles of uneven terrain carrying program equipment, tools and supplies, with or without accommodation.

  • Have current certification in First Aid and CPR or ability to acquire certification upon hire.

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
