Crane Currency has an immediate position opening for a Sr. MRO Facilities Buyer based out of Dalton, MA.

How you will make an impact:

This position is responsible for MRO/Indirect purchasing, inventory stores and spare parts management, and Capital Project purchasing. The candidate will work closely with those involved in the execution of MRO tasks, projects and responsibilities. They will oversee MRO stores and Indirect procurement for the campus relating to procurement and management of facility equipment, parts and spares, as well as being responsible for setting and maintaining appropriate spare part inventory levels and classifications.

  • Management of the MRO spare parts stores and systems to assure improvements and sustainability through accurate inventories (cycle counts), correct categorization, process improvements, removal of obsolete inventories, and constant evaluation of the needs to support the Crane manufacturing processes, ensuring 100% on-time delivery and quality to our customers.
  • Evaluate and approve maintenance purchase requisitions for accuracy, supplier selection and cost prior to placing a Purchase Order, ensuring correct parts are sourced according to specifications and quality requirements.
  • Contribution through expertise and knowledge to the facilities maintenance, engineering and project teams utilizing basic and advanced sourcing, negotiation, and cost reduction techniques.
  • Execution of global supply chain strategies that support Crane objectives for material cost reduction, supplier delivery performance and lead-times, supplier quality and inventory reduction. This would include actions to rationalize the supply base, drive increased sourcing from low-cost sources, indirect material / services spend with other Crane business units, and negotiating and implementing Supplier Agreements as necessary.
  • Performing Sourcing tasks for obtaining competitive bids, analyzing costs, and negotiating contracts with suppliers based on total cost of ownership weighing financial risks, quality standards, and delivery capabilities.
  • Development and on-going maintenance of MRO databases, analysis tools, and reports. Audit on-going compliance and data accuracy.
  • Learn the Crane Business System, by participating, facilitating, and leading Kaizen events that will eliminate waste, improve pull and one-piece flow, and deliver breakthrough results in Growth, Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost throughout the Supply Chain.
  • Perform global spend and value stream analysis to identify savings and process improvement opportunities, quantify the opportunities, work with cross-functional teams to create and execute action plans to realize the benefits, and track and publish the results.

Knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:

Required:

  • 4+ years’ experience in MRO procurement.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact-based decisions. Includes a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional global teams in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects to completion.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S)
  • Strong knowledge of the supply chain with focus upon Indirect/MRO Purchasing, Supplier Development, and Cost Management.

Preferred:

  • BA/BS degree in Supply Chain Management or Facilities Management
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification (black belt or green belt) is desired.
  • Certification in APICS and/or ISM is desired.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills are desired.
