Reporting to the Tool & Die Manager, the Tool & Die Technician would support 1st Shift Tool & Die Makers and 2nd Shift production teams to clean fixtures, replace clamps along with fit up and assembly of fixtures.



Responsibilities

  • Assemble jigs, fixtures and templates for use as work aids in fabrication of parts or products.
  • Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists.
  • Gathers parts, subassemblies, tools and materials.
  • Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators. (Supplied by applicant)
  • Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerance of assemblies, based on specifications.
  • Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes.
  • File, Grind, shim, and adjust different parts to properly fit them together.
  • Fit and assemble parts to make, repair, or modify dies, jigs, gauges, and tools, using machine tools and hand tools.
  • Smooth and polish flat and contoured surfaces of parts or tools, using scrapers, abrasive stones, files, emery clothes, or power grinders.
  • Perform inspections on current and existing tools and provide preventative maintenance tasks, such as cleaning, clamp replacement and part fit up.


Qualifications

  • Strong Basic math skills.
  • Previous forklift & crane experience.
  • Basic knowledge in blue prints reading.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to efficiently work in a team and coordinate work with other departments.
  • Aptitude to take orders and execute the same efficiently.
  • High School degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Good finger and hand dexterity.
  • Ability to problem solve tooling issues and work to a solution.
