  • Department: Ascension Internal Travel Program
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week
  • Hospital: St. Francis primary location, will also support surrounding hospitals.
  • Location: Wichita, Kansas

Stipend would be provided for those residing more than 60 miles to the facility. This is an Interim contract position.

Responsibilities

Direct development and implementation of infection control policies, procedures and strategies.

  • Direct the surveillance, remediation and reporting of infections across the organization.
  • Develop program goals, plans and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, regulatory/legal and ethical requirements and objectives of the organization.
  • Plan, organize, and direct all activities related to staffing, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions and continuing education initiatives.
  • Prepare budgets and ensures compliance with allocated funding. Coordinate and directs internal/external audits.
  • Evaluate the infection control program by identifying strategies that address the risk of infection transmission and assessing the risk for occupational exposure to infectious diseases.
  • Lead the analysis and interpretation of data on healthcare associated infections, and recommends plans to optimize the outcomes.

Requirements

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required. Master's degree or combination of Bachelor's degree and experience preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 5 years of experience required.
  • 10 years of experience preferred.
  • 2 years of leadership or management experience required.
  • 5 years of leadership or management experience preferred.

Additional Preferences

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Certification specializing in Infection Control credentialed from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc. (CBIC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • RN not required.
