US Battlefield Information Collection and Exploitation System eXtended (US BICES-X) is a cutting-edge program supporting DoD intelligence information sharing on current and emerging global threats to mission and coalition partners and emerging nations. With an internationally dispersed team supporting each combatant command, the US BICES-X team is in direct support of the war fighter and their missions. We are seeking a creative and driven professional with a passion for solving real world issues on a cross-functional, fast paced team.

This position is to ensure the stability, integrity and efficient operation of the in-house information systems that support the USBICES-X program. This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software associated operating systems. The Network Engineer will apply communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate, and resolves issues to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.

Responsibilities:

Hours of Operation

  • The BICES-X team provides 24x7 in-depth coverage of the network architecture
  • Performs scheduled shiftwork to ensure 24-hour operational and technical support


Strategy & Planning
  • Collaborate with network staff to ensure smooth and reliable operation of network appliances and systems for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
  • As part of the USBICES-X team, you will be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and strengthening the security posture and cyber defense of a CSfC information architecture.

Acquisition & Deployment
  • Implement and maintain the network in accordance with NSA CSfC policies
  • Performs complex network development and design work.
  • Participates in the upgrading of operating systems and design of network enhancements.
  • Researches, evaluates, and recommends solutions and technologies to improve operations.
  • Develops and conducts tests to ensure networks meet documented NSA requirements.

Operational Management
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves network problems.
  • Provides network/equipment/specialized training and technical guidance.
  • Determines network specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of network engineering principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Knowledge of the associated hardware, software, and equipment.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of related Network Engineering experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance.
  • BA/BS degree or master's degree - may substitute additional years of experience.
  • Must possess and completed the Cisco CCNA certification, or equivalent.
  • Must meet DOD 8750 requirements and be eligible for IAT level II access upon hire for positions with elevated privileges and must obtain ITIL V4 Foundation within six months of hire. Additional specific certifications may be required, depending on job assignment.
  • Knowledge and experience with routing and switching protocols (e.g. OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, Spanning Tree Protocol, ISAKMP, ESP, SIP, SCCP, etc.)
  • In-depth experience with building, implementing, and supporting IPSEC VPN solutions
  • Directly related experience with firewalls and firewall rule sets
  • Hands-on experience with Firepower, Aruba, and Palo Alto network appliances
  • Strong knowledge of NSA's Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) program to include the capability packages and annexes for Mobile Access Capability Package (MACP)
  • Ability to configure and troubleshoot DMVPN and GRE tunnels
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and multi-task while still ensuring high quality of work
  • Highly organized with strong ability to prioritize work and work autonomously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Great attention to detail and presentation

  • The work is typically performed at client site locations, which requires proper safety precautions; work may require some physical effort in the handling of light materials, boxes or equipment.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Cisco CCNP Enterprise certification
  • Knowledge and experience with VoIP/collaboration systems
  • Knowledge and experience with HAIPE-based encryption devices
  • Knowledge of Virtualization technologies: VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft
  • Knowledge and experience with data center networking
  • Understanding of network virtualization
  • Understanding of concepts presented in the VMware Data Center Virtualization Fundamentals course
  • Understanding of VxRail Manager and best practices
  • VDI experience highly desired


This position may be required to complete short-term deployments to austere locations worldwide
