Description

Overview of the Position:

Learn and understand the proper operation of the employee's machine (Lathe / Mill). Be responsible for that machine, report any problems to Management. Use and be able to read micrometers, and bore gauges. Learn and be able to indicate or zero parts on machines. Grind parts to the specifications called for on Travelers. Be familiar with the company computer system, knowing how to clock parts to locations and document the required paperwork.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Learn and understand the proper operation of your machine, reporting any problems to Management
  • Use and be able to read micrometers, and bore gauges
  • Center chucks on machine to accept parts for grinding
  • Machine indicate or zero parts on machines
  • Machine parts to the specifications called for on Travelers
  • Properly lubricate grinding equipment and parts
  • Operate a power hand tool to grind or buff parts
  • Use proper hearing, eye, and foot protection as required
  • Understand the potential exposures to metal filings and particles. Know and understand the dust recovery system and associated safety rules, and the potential exposures to grinding dust and dressing rock dust
  • Learn the proper use of the dot welding machine


Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Must speak, read and write the English language
  • Should have basic computer software skills
  • Prior work experience in conventional machining (Mill / Lathe) helpful but not required.
  • Should be able to read blueprints


Education / Experience Requirements:
  • Must have H. S. Diploma or GED
  • Must have 3 months to 2 years ACI experience or related outside experience.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; and lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Is frequently required to talk or listen.
  • Works in moderate noise levels.
  • Lift parts and part chucks up to 80lbs.
  • No vision requirements.
