WHAT YOU'LL DO Corporate Finance & Strategy (CFS) is a functional practice area within BCG that is at the core of BCG’s heritage and current work across all industries. Within CFS, BCG runs a business called “Strategy”, which develops and markets our offerings on multiple highly strategic and future-oriented topics: corporate & portfolio strategy, business strategy, growth strategy, innovation strategy, uncertainty advantage, and digital/data/AI strategy. We are seeking a strong candidate to be the Global Business Director – Strategy, to work closely with the leadership and management of the practice area and Strategy business (primarily the Global Business Leader, the Global Practice Management Senior Director, Strategy’s core leadership team of topic and regional business leaders, as well as the practice’s management and operations team to ensure that all center activities run smoothly. As a Global Business Director – Strategy, you will drive various product management and business building activities regarding the offerings and tools in the business jointly with the leadership team. They include in particular: Driving the business and IP development In charge of defining and implementing the business agenda and long-term vision and translating it to a tangible action plan. Key KPI examples: percent of goal achievement measured against growth plans set for the year. Grow the business needs with its underlying topics and leaders (driving and orchestrating initiatives, becoming the go-to person to topic leaders of the business and connecting the dots to the CFS practice area and beyond). Performing regular financial analyses/reporting and follow-up topic key performance indicators (NCCs, pyramid building) – track progress and intervene when needed. Be the key interface to the global practice management & operations and representing the practice’s business interest and synchronizing the efforts in the interface to regions, industries, and functions. Lead and drive the IP development in partnership with members of the Strategy leadership team. In particular, working with global topic leaders to build, shape, refine new and relevant offerings and working with regional strategy leaders in activating a regional go-to-market agenda. Set the agenda and shape the pipeline of thought partnership of Strategy topics with the Global Business Leader. In this context, manage the linkages to BCG Henderson Institute (BHI), CFS PA, broader BCG and its functions (e.g., BCG’s Central Marketing team) need to be managed. Pushing commercialization and business development Be the engine to grow the commercialization of Strategy topics by teaming with key stakeholders (e.g. business leads, topic leads, industry leads) and aligning key initiatives. This includes defining and executing shared go-to-market campaigns, and tracking conversion rates of applied Strategy expertise and products. Define sector priorities in partnership with the global sector teams, customize the sector-specific Strategy “offering” with the help of the IPA nodes and help push the go-to-market commercialization agenda, including shaping the narrative and developing relevant content for key internal and external meetings. Drive the external relationships end-to-end to build Strategy’s brand and raise its profile among key external audiences (e.g. SATT events, high profile publications, and external partnerships). Support the Strategy core leadership team in its business development priorities for the year and to proactively identify opportunities to further grow the business (e.g., efficiencies in processes, unlock white spaces). Leading internal growth affiliation initiatives Work closely with the Global Business Leader to raise the profile of the Strategy Business internally by growing the next generation of strategists at BCG. This includes career and platform building, trainings, learning & development programs/curriculums, awareness programs, other affiliation initiatives tied to the business. Build a community of BCG strategists globally – and among all BCG cohorts – through various initiatives Participating in PA projects and beyond Independently connect the Strategy business agenda to initiatives within the broader CFS agenda as well as with overarching initiatives (e.g. Resilience) and continuously monitor and push the progress. This includes integrating the Strategy offering with other BCG products/topics/offerings embedded under firm-wide umbrella themes, and driving its utilization. Support global and regional PA projects (e.g. topic related initiatives and conferences in the region. As part of the Topic Manager community at BCG, you will work closely with your topic teams, but also with your topic management colleagues in CFS and beyond to test, refine, and exchange best practices across the community. YOU'RE GOOD AT Successful candidates will feel comfortable operating in a "start-up mode" within BCG, i.e. under ambiguity and evolving priorities. They can manage a complex set of both senior and peer stakeholders, and they have strong project management skills, where they are able to manage the details while always keeping the “big picture” in mind. Eagerness to lean in and flexibly support the broader operations and expert teams is also a prerequisite. In particular, successful candidates will have the following abilities: Orchestrating a complex and evolving strategic agenda, aligning senior leadership, and driving the execution in a distributed organization. Managing, tracking, and supporting a broad range of BCG-internal projects often requiring consulting skills such as slide writing, presentation, and analytics. Collaborating, facilitating, and communicating effectively with teams and individuals of various seniorities, geographies and backgrounds – particularly with a group of senior stakeholders. Ability and motivation to continuously learn the latest content and BCG offerings across all the topics of Strategy, but also beyond, in CFS and broader BCG. YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS) Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred Ideally 10-12 years experience Experience as a consultant or professional in the areas of strategy, innovation, business development, corporate development or corporate finance is preferred Multi-tasking, prioritizing, managing expectations in a fast-paced, complex environment Excellent problem solving and analytical skills Strong work ethic, service-mentality, autonomous, and self-starter Strong credibility and interpersonal skills with senior members of BCG Capacity to navigate and operate effectively in a matrix organization Collaborative team player, ability to maintain discretion when needed Excellent command of the English language Strong written and verbal communication (incl. slide writing and presentation skills) YOU'LL WORK WITH As part of the Topic Manager community at BCG, you will work closely with your topic teams, but also with your topic management colleagues in CFS and beyond to test, refine, and exchange best practices across the community.
