Job Description
The engineer - supply provides high level technical work and directs others in technical work in the planning, designing, procurement and construction of additions, changes or maintenance to MidAmerican Energy Company's generating units. The principal engineer may participate in the direction of work for the senior engineer, engineer II, engineer I, drafting technicians, contractors and craft personnel. The principal engineer will also provide assistance to managers on higher-level projects.
Responsibilities
Provide engineering services for the higher level planning, design and construction of project additions or maintenance to MidAmerican Energy Company's generation system. (40%)
Provide technical project management for all phases of a project including scheduling, design, estimates, engineering specifications, drawings, materials procurement, construction contracts, cost tracking and project cost projections. (25%)
Conduct complex engineering studies and investigations and prepare oral and written reports. (15%)
Provide engineering assistance to other departments. (15%)
Attend training in designated areas. (5%)
Provide technical leadership to staff. Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
One to five years of engineering experience required for the engineer II.
Five or more years of engineering experience required for the sr. engineer. PE license is preferred.
Fifteen years of successful industry experience as a practicing engineer with experience performing highly technical work of a specialized nature for the principal engineer. High level of technical knowledge, judgment and capability in the engineering discipline.
Effective communicator with technical and managerial personnel within and external to MidAmerican Energy Company.
Broad analytical skills. Advanced project management skills. Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
