Job Description

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Compliance Strategist is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) accountable for working with the Commission on Continuing Professional Development, staff, internal and external subject matter experts such as the AAFP Credit System, and external organizations such as the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), to secure and strengthen AAFP’s compliance with current guidelines governing certified CME to maintain AAFP’s status of Accreditation with Commendation as well as meet the standards for other certifying bodies such as KSBN.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In collaboration with key organizational stakeholders, support the development and implementation of a program-level strategy for ensuring AAFP compliance with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), and the AAFP Credit System, requirements and manage the documentation, review, and reaccreditation process.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on compliance with a focus on mitigating AAFP risk.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and tools to streamline the documentation of compliance of AAFP CME activities.
  • Monitor the CME environment for changes that my impact AAFP’s compliance.
  • Represent the AAFP provider side in collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree or knowledge acquired through equivalent work experience, plus a minimum of four years related work experience. Understanding of ACCME Criteria, Policies, and Standards for Commercial Support and other applicable laws or regulations with which AAFP-produced CME must comply. This position requires critical thinking skills and the ability to review, evaluate, and synthesize large amounts of information. Excellent project management and oral/written communication skills. Ability to work individually and in teams. The ability to develop presentation materials and present to various audiences. Ability to clearly articulate concepts and provide recommendations on how they are applicable in an organizational context. The ability to follow guidelines with specific deliverables and timelines is a must. Must be self-directed and able to manage multiple priorities. Strong verbal and written skills are needed.
