The Department of German at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in German for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Desired requirements for this one-year appointment include:

• Period of specialization: open (post 1832);

• Area of specialization: cultural production and social change across media and genres (literature, film, digital media);

• Background in Critical Theory, Frankfurt School, Marxism highly desired;

• Ability to teach German at all levels;

• Ability to teach general education courses in English;

• Open to supporting co-curricular activities in the department, the university, and outside community.

Commitment to and excellence in undergraduate teaching is required and near-native knowledge of and fluency in German is a minimum requirement. Ph.D. in German Studies by the time of employment required.
