We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer - Gateway HALO to join the team with JETS II.

The Habitation Systems Engineer, as part of the Gateway systems management team will:

  • Perform, review, and present architecture trade studies and analyses that will influence the overall design and performance
  • Perform requirements decomposition and develop requirements for Level 3 (Habitation and Logistics module, Airlock, other modules as they develop)
  • Develop verification and validation plans and statements
  • Develop interface control documents
  • Review and provide comments on program documentation
  • Support trade studies on crew equipment, such as hygiene, advanced clothing, etc.
  • Coordinate with Gateway Systems, modules, and projects including commercial vendors, and international partners
  • Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and issues and for support
  • Perform other duties as required?

Job Requirements:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2- 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Experience with the development of requirements documents including functional requirements and verification success criteria
  • Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of engineering hardware
  • Basic knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the engineering field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design of software and tools
  • Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products

Requisition Preferences:?

  • Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures
  • Experience with spacecraft habitation systems
  • Experience with Systems Engineering processes and techniques
  • Experience with MBS
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills?

Work Environment

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
