Overview

The Supply Planning Specialist role is primarily responsible for the creation, adjustment, and communication of production plans for assigned manufacturing units within the facility. The role requires collaboration across multiple departments; Manufacturing, Logistics, Customer Service, and Planning resources, both within the site and around the region to gather detailed information requisite to formulate a sustainable production plan to meet customer needs. The position holder also works alongside raw material schedulers to ensure that the necessary materials are available to support the plan. The role requires the incumbent to have strong problem-solving skills and to be able to adapt quickly to changing business conditions. Role holder should be able to step in and support the Supply Planning Supervisor as needed.



Responsibilities

  • Develop requirement plans/production schedules to ensure the plant is operating in line with Afton’s planned requirements.
  • Manage the movement of raw materials or finished goods to support the demand plan activities in other regions.
  • Manage inventory levels within target ranges. The aim is to have adequate material to maintain supply without increasing working capital costs to an unacceptable level.
  • Maintain understanding of short-term capacity availability and constraints.
  • Respond to changes in plan in a timely manner. In addition to updating the production plan and material movement requirements, this should also include communicating the impact of these changes to the business team.
  • Collaborate with planners in one’s own site, and within the region, to ensure coordination of shared resources (such as plant capacity) and develop best practices.
  • Be aware of, and support where necessary, other Supply operations within the region to ensure that Planning activities are aligned with Manufacturing, Logistics and Procurement objectives.
  • Support company quality and safety systems through day-to-day activities and via formal feedback mechanism.



Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS:

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of 3 years of related production scheduling experience in a manufacturing/shipping environment.
  • Bachelor of Science in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or in-country equivalent as advised by regional HR team may be considered as relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with ERP software (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Excel.
  • English language ability (both written and spoken) is required. Further languages are advantageous

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

  • Strong knowledge of supply chain structures and procedures
  • Experience/knowledge in inventory control and inventory management techniques.
  • Experience/knowledge of railcar and truck logistics activities.

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize work, develop appropriate timelines and work to deadlines

  • Ability to communicate technical planning details to non-technical managers
