Key Responsibilities:

  • Operating cutting-edge Ingersoll/Kuka KR460 robot arm for composite parts layup.
  • Installing and removing tooling from the robot.
  • Conducting setup procedures such as tool and laser projector alignment.
  • Performing visual inspections and rework of fiber-placed plies.
  • Troubleshooting any issues that arise during the process.
  • Managing layup tools and organizing layup programs.
  • Operating the Aligned Vision Laserguide2 projection system, including programming and editing ply boundaries.
  • Developing a strong understanding of the Siemens 840D control system.
  • Documenting each layup for part tracing and record-keeping.
  • Overseeing all processes related to composite component development in manufacturing.
  • Modifying and repairing composite tooling.
  • Conducting component testing, including various checks and inspections.
  • Operating a range of equipment, including the Gerber Z1 cutting table, Aligned Vision Laserguide laser projector, ASC autoclave, and Wisconsin oven.
  • Writing reports to document information from process data collection.
  • Monitoring and performing Preventative Maintenance (PM) on designated equipment.
  • Representing CCAT at meetings, workshops, events, and ACTC tours.

Qualifications:

  • Technical School completion or Associate Degree in manufacturing, technology, or engineering.
  • Certified Composites Technician (CCT) Program completion is preferred but not required. Total experience can be considered for degree substitution.
  • 2-4 years of hands-on working experience with composite materials is preferred.
  • Proficiency in autoclave processing of composites.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, technical drawings, and technical reports.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T.
  • While not required, experience in milling and lathe operation, basic machining, automation, and exposure to Industry 4.0 technologies are desirable.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mastery of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Strong report writing capabilities.
