As an Accounting Manager, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data within our organization. Your primary responsibilities will include supporting month-end close processes, accruals, variance analysis, and managing reconciliations with an emphasis on revenue, payroll, and cash areas. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining and implementing best practices that will promote greater efficiency and enhance internal controls. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial operations, and process improvement, as well as the ability to oversee a team and collaborate with cross-functional departments.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the month-end close process and ensure all financial activities are timely reported.
  • Prepare and review period-end journal entries.
  • Manage the monthly revenue recognition and payroll accounting procedures.
  • Coordinate with all departments to address discrepancies or issues that arise during the close. 
  • Assist with analyzing account fluctuations and variances in internal reporting.
  • Review reconciliations and provide feedback to improve analysis and address issues promptly.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets in assigned areas.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing analysis findings, providing insights to support various departments and levels across the organization.
  • Support company efforts to employ automation and technology solutions to enhance operations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records of reconciliations and other tasks.
  • Train and develop a high-performing team. Strengthen and evaluate staff members through positive and constructive feedback and engage staff members within departmental initiatives.
  • Assist in audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations to auditors, as needed.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or equivalent. (Master’s degree or CPA preferred)
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in accounting. 
  • Prior supervisory experience required.
  • Public accounting audit experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in a multi-unit business operation preferred.
  • Strong organization and project management skills with a propensity to embrace and support change for the betterment of the organization.
  • Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills within all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of computer financial applications and advanced Excel techniques (ie, pivot tables, vlookups, filters, etc.).
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems. Netsuite and Blackline experience is preferred.
  • Self-directed demonstrating high levels of ethics and integrity; uses time effectively and prioritizes tasks to meet and drive deadlines.
  • Emphasizes a strong customer focus to support interaction with multi-site operating environment.
