Description

As a Product Manager/Product Mentor, you will play a critical role in influencing the future of products in a large Government organization. In this role, you will be passionate about supporting Agency product managers and product teams in creating exceptional products and customer experiences that consistently exceed expectations!  You will support defining product strategy and roadmapping, as well as influencing multiple projects and initiatives across the Agency. You will have the opportunity to guide and understand the needs of different stakeholders and to support the Agency product managers in breaking down complexity, driving innovation and meeting product and Agency goals.  You will understand and work with complex data and iteratively improve the Product/Enterprise Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in support of Agency objectives.  You will also support customer and product discovery and design efforts for a range of user personas, that may include internal users (Government) as well as external users (General Public).

  • Define, articulate, and build strategy around a vision driving the overall strategy for future products.
  • Engage broadly across product teams and functions to understand drivers of performance and collaborate on optimizing business processes.
  • Partner with leaders/analyst/users to deeply understand customer needs and drive alignment around solutions to core business problems by creating models, concepts diagrams, workflow diagrams, and journey maps.
  • Lead discovery sessions, design reviews, and work closely with many different stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance on creating product roadmaps and release plans.
  • Contribute to building a strong human centered design culture.
  • Collaborate with Agency product managers to prioritize work and align to overall vision.
  • Collaborate with the internal Product Mentor team to learn, share, and leverage best practices, tools, artifacts, etc.
  • All other duties as assigned or directed.

FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESS (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bachelor's degree and 12 Years of work experience OR Master's degree and 10 Years of work experience OR a minimum 16 years of work experience as a Product Manager in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience describing and discussing data-driven, value-seeking Product Management
  • Solid experience describing and discussing data-driven, value-seeking Product Management.
  • Solid experience implementing product practices at an enterprise level.
  • Experience conveying software methodologies to audiences including senior leaders with varying technical backgrounds.
  • Demonstrable experience in presenting product concepts to senior leaders through presentations.
  • Experience defining and producing Product Management courseware and marketing content tailored to organization-specific requirements
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust. Contract requirement.

*** Selected candidate must reside within two (2) hours of SSA Headquarters in Woodlawn, MD

*** Selected candidate must be willing to work on-site at least 2 days a week.

FACTORS TO HELP YOU SHINE (Required Skills)

These skills will help you succeed in this position:

  • Solid experience describing and discussing data-driven, value-seeking Product Management.
  • Solid experience implementing product practices at an enterprise level.
  • Solid experience with enterprise product management (concept through production delivery).
  • Experience presenting to stakeholders and senior leadership with varying technical backgrounds.  
  • Experience defining and producing Product Management courseware and marketing content tailored to organization-specific requirements.

HOW TO STAND OUT FROM THE CROWD (Desired Skills)

Showcase your knowledge of modern development through the following experience or skills:

  • Prior Federal Government/Government/large scale corporate working experience.
  • Pragmatic Marketing or other Industry recognized Product Manager Certification.
  • Experience managing Product Managers and equivalent professionals.
  • Experience creating training plans and curricula.
  • Ability to coach and communicate with cross-functional teams on all phases of the Product lifecycle.
  • Ability to prioritize and react to changing requirements with a sense of urgency.
  • Ability to envision an enterprise level vision and the drive to make that vision a reality.
  • Knowledge of big data and analytics products.
  • Negotiating and customer relationship management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities evidenced by a proven ability to analyze product concepts, strategic opportunities, quantitatively and qualitatively.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $108,550.00 - $196,225.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
