The Diesel Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for performing repair on heavy equipment for the plant to operate effectively and economically as possible while being consistent with plant policies, practices and procedures. The person in this position will constantly drive to minimize overall maintenance costs. This teammate will need the ability to work in a team setting or independently on projects that will ensure the department reaches its goals.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Knows, understands, and follows all Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and requirements.
Inspects heavy equipment for proper functioning and diagnoses equipment malfunctions
Uses test equipment and diagnostic equipment to perform troubleshooting
Responsible for performing preventative maintenance on all heavy equipment
Dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to operating or repair manuals, and schematics using hand tools, pneumatic tools, hydraulic, electric tools (outdoor/indoor conditions)
Ability to operate heavy equipment
Be able to prepare detailed repair orders on completed maintenance assignments and parts used
Input information in maintenance tracking system
Performs other duties assigned as needed
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
5 years of experience with repairing and providing preventative maintenance on heavy equipment (5K-36K Forklifts, Manlifts, Skidsteers, Water Trucks, Sweeper Trucks, Vacuum Trucks, Hydro Blasters, Welding Machines, Pressure Washer, etc.)
Basic computer skills
Must be able to walk long distances and stand and work for more than 2 hours in tough environmental conditions (high temperature, high humidity, noise, & dust), lift 50 LBS. Pre-employment physical is required
