Brief Description

Hone Machinist is responsible for producing work meeting the drawing specifications and requirements.

Key Accountabilities

  • Completes set-ups with minimal supervision/assistance.
  • Responsible for all phases of part operation set-up to achieve first article acceptance within allotment time.
  • Perform and maintain accurate in-process quality inspection and records.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements that reduce part quality variation.
  • Input data into visual management forms and convey results to management
  • Continuously improve processes, procedures, and eliminate waste.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Desirable Experience, Capabilities and Success Factors

  • Three plus years experience with all phases of part operation set-up on various Hone equipment.
  • CNC/Technology/Machinist trade school certification a plus.
  • Skilled in the use of Air Indicators, Dial Bore Gages, Deltronic pin, Profilometers and plate inspection methods, first article and in-process inspection of precision machined parts.
  • Ability to maintain required Ra finishes, close tolerances (within .0002-.0005") of I.D's, roundness, perpendicularity and concentricity.
  • Understanding of machine tool accuracies, size offsets, tool pressures and required tooling.
  • Knowledge of cutting tool feeds, speeds, and best tool life for aerospace materials.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions and interpret blueprint and quality requirements in English.
  • Ability to communicate with employees and management in a positive manner.
  • Ability to lift a maximum of 25 lbs. (over 25 lbs. with assistance).
  • Ideal candidate will have experience with AS9100, 5S, Lean, and Six Sigma.
  • Must be a US Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card Holder) per ITAR Regulations.
  • Reliability is key, you will need to be on time and have minimal unscheduled time off.
  • Stable work history.


Expected Salary: $18 to $29 per hour
