The Vice President of Sales is responsible for leading and developing a field sales organization to successfully execute the sales and marketing strategies of the global business units that we serve in order to exceed the sales targets that are assigned to the Commercial organization. Responsibilities/Accountabilities: • Serves as a member of the North American Leadership Team, including: • Assisting the SVP and Leadership Team in building and nurturing a work environment that reflects the Company’s core values and mission. • Collaborating in developing the Companys plans and programs, specifically providing strategic guidance for sales activities. • Providing the leadership team with analysis and commentary on monthly actual vs. projected sales across product categories and geographic markets as well as any updates in sales projections. • Providing the Leadership Team with analysis, options, and recommendations on sale channels and activities. • Oversees the development of the annual expense and revenue budget for the combined Sales Teams. • Communicates regularly to the company about customer-centric initiatives and KPIs. • Provides leadership, monitoring, and analysis for the Sales teams in order to achieve the company’s domestic sales goals. This includes, but is not limited to: • Works with the sales management team to develop and guide execution of strategic and tactical plans, achieve revenue targets and grow the Company’s customer base within the established budget. • Provides strategic direction for territory management, including profitability, territory coverage and continuous improvement. • Develops and maintains a thorough understanding of the Company’s competitors, sales cycles, and consumer behaviors. • Establishes, monitors, analyzes, and reports on Sales Dept KPIs in order to ensure efficiency and efficacy of the entire customer experience. • Hires, trains, coaches, supervises, and mentors direct reports in the Sales Dept. • Together with the sales management team, ensures the development and implementation of Sales Dept policies, procedures, and best practices. • Provides recommendations for improving or adding new products, services and marketing activities based on analysis of customer needs. • Effectively represents the Company at various community, business, industry, and governmental meetings to promote the Company and its interests. • Collaborates and communicates with internal teams to ensure efficiency in the delivery of products, quality of customer interaction, financial understanding, and analysis, and ensuring the customer/ sales team perspectives is included in strategic decision making, marketing and training activities. • Performs other duties as assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: • Demonstrated leadership and people management experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment • Successful track record of developing field sales organizations • Ability to work independently, as well as within a cross-functional team environment • Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve practical problems, make logical decisions and communicate ideas • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities • Broad functional experience in areas of strategic planning and marketing, business and marketing development, sales research and planning and promotions • Possesses and demonstrates the values that are consistent with the DENTSPLY core values and culture. • Must work effectively with senior-level information technology executives, dentists, trustees, executives and leaders and staff of affiliates institutions and enterprises • Must display interpersonal skills and ability to interact with customers, employees and others in a professional and tactful manner. • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. • Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software Education and Experience: • Bachelors, advanced degree or professional certificate in sales, marketing or business field required. • A minimum of 15 years of professional experience with at least 5 years of experience leading collaborative/ consultative sales teams is required. Experience with the medical device, software, or educational markets is preferred. • Experience developing and implementing effective sales strategies and tactics, with proven success building and leading successful sales teams. • Experience selling products in international markets is preferred. • Clinical knowledge related to the products/services/markets/ customers served is preferred. Additional information: • Regular travel (20 to 30%) within North America to industry trade shows and conferences, sales team meetings, and customer sites is required. • Periodic international travel is required • Performs other duties as assigned or as may be necessary
