Our offices are based in the heart of the Loop in downtown Chicago, but we are pleased to note that our Chicago office is operating on a hybrid work model (mix of in-office and remote work). 

Position Summary: 

The Parking Spot is now hiring for a full-time Paralegal position to join our team in Chicago! The Paralegal will be responsible for providing timely and effective legal support on a variety of projects and will perform a wide range of day-to-day tasks including, but not limited to contract and database management, insurance claims oversight and management and litigation support.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain contract management system and database for tracking active contracts, renewals and expirations while monitoring contract lifecycle and documentation, ensuring accurate record-keeping and easy retrieval of contractual information when required;
  • Oversight of insurance claims and investigation applying understanding of claims management to analyze claims exposure, plan the proper course of action and appropriately resolve claims;
  • Assist in the preparation and organization of legal documents such as answers, court filings, notices of appearances, contracts, lease agreements, amendments and extensions, property, and corporate level documents as well as licenses and permits;
  • General file management, including maintaining corporate, litigation, and legal files so they are easily accessible and may be retrieved without compromising the confidentiality or privacy of the information contained therein;
  • Manage and organize informational documents including contracts, confidential inter-department files and litigation data;
  • Perform legal research, as needed; partner with various departments company-wide to ensure all policies are being followed, and laws and regulations are being adhered to; and
  • Assist with the preparation of a variety of internal communications, including memos on corporate policies and procedures, board book materials and preservation notices.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Must have a paralegal certificate and at least 3 years of experience with a law firm or in-house corporate legal department. Some in-house experience strongly preferred.
  • An exceptional ability to understand, analyze, and tackle complex legal issues
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to work well in a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure and prioritize competing deadlines
  • Insurance claims experience is strongly preferred
  • Ability to maintain strict levels of confidentiality
