Job Summary
Position objective: to provide prevention services to youth, families, and community members in Fayette County and Jefferson County, Kentucky.
Position description: Supervised by the program director, the community health educator works in schools and communities to facilitate prevention services based on the EMPOWER framework, which include:
- Prevention education
- Tailored information dissemination
- Empowerment and community capacity building
- Professional development
- Cessation Accessibility
Collaborate with schools, parent-teacher groups, civic organizations, church groups, and other youth and community organizations to provide tailored information about mentholated tobacco products and other flavored tobacco products. Implement prevention programming to provide information about the effects of tobacco use and other related topics to historically marginalized communities. Assist in community outreach, listening sessions, webinars/conferences and professional development. Perform other duties as assigned by the program director to meet program objectives.
Required related experience: ADD Experience working with diverse communities is preferred, but not required.
