Job Purpose/Summary: The Supervisor, Operations leads a team of employees and manages assets, including pipeline and facility operations, maintenance, internal projects, regulatory requirements, safety, and financial controls. The individual in this role liaisons with customers and contractors and assures that goals and objectives align with the organizational and commercial needs and operations are conducted in a safe, compliant, and reliable manner. The Supervisor, Operations manages a team of approximately 4-15 direct reports and manages an operating and capital budget of up to $25MM Job Responsibilities Operations Management Implements initiatives within the team, including operating policies, and contributes to organization policies. Partners with Manager to review the business strategy and executes the strategy within their team. Recommends improvements to processes and systems to meet current operational needs. Evaluates potential approaches and policies in response to critical information. Manages team and assures costs and projects have a significant impact on the district’s business results. Maximizes existing transportation and storage assets. Directs the deployment of a mix of resources across the team. Partners with the Manager to resolve complex or unusual business problems. Endorses priorities and provides guidance to the district when implementing action plans. Implements changes due to needs and/or industry trends, including people, process, and systems. Operations Management System Sponsors and endorses OMS, by demonstrating commitment to safety and continuous improvement through actions that reinforce the overall program. Manage Performance & Develop People Builds effective relationships with leaders and employees to increase influence, motivate employees, and create high performing teams. Sets clear expectations, provides resources, gives direction, and helps employees to focus on and prioritize their goals. Conducts ongoing conversations, including coaching, feedback, and check-ins. Manages performance, leads performance discussions, and consistently models Plains’ values and behaviors. Practices succession planning and works with HR and leaders to identify the best successors. Seeks to keep employees engaged by looking for opportunities where employees can continue to grow and develop. Conducts developmental conversations, creates a development plan, and provides developmental activities for employees to grow. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required: Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years of applicable experience in petroleum transportation and/or storage business or in lieu of degree a minimum of 8 years’ experience in petroleum transportation and/or storage business Able to interact with Plain’s leaders and employees, build strong relationships at all levels and across all the team and district, and articulate business focus and initiatives. Able to partner, collaborate, and influence within the team and district. Demonstrated business acumen and able to describe the business impact of projects and policies. Demonstrate planning, coordinating, and prioritization skills Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively within the team and across the district. Experience with applicable environmental regulations, PHMSA regulations, and applicable API measurement standards. Experience interfacing with individuals inside and outside the company, e.g., public officials, regulators, engineers, business professionals, contractors, and others Solid presentation skills, experience presenting to audiences, and able to effectively convey the data and the story. Strong quantitative and analytical skills, problem solving, and critical thinking. Able to successfully complete Haz-Mat training and perform Incident Commander role, safety awareness training, and any related required training and certifications Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license Experience with Microsoft office suite applications w/ strong emphasis on Excel Able to travel within the U.S. and Canada up to 50% of the time.
