Overview

The SONAR Hull Arrays team is responsible for the development, qualification, integration, testing and fleet support of contractor furnished and government furnished SONAR hull arrays and sensors for all submarine classes.

SONAR Hull Arrays/Systems (C4ISR Systems Integration and Engineering D442) requires engineers to assist in Systems Engineering efforts related to contractor furnished SONAR systems including Large Aperture Bow (LAB) Array, Light Weight Wide Aperture Array (LWWAA) and High Frequency Chin Array (HFCA) as well as various Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) SONAR sensors, arrays and components.

The successful engineer will perform system engineering efforts from initial system design and development through hardware/software integration, component qualification, testing, construction support, delivery and post-delivery support to include analysis and resolution of fleet identified problems, assessment of obsolescence issues and identification of components for technical refresh.

The position requires the engineer perform technology investigations, trade-studies, identify/resolve program risks, identify opportunities for cost reduction and validate methods to ensure producible end products.

The position requires the engineer to interface with NAVSEA, Naval Shipyards, Government vendors, sub-contractors and other EB departments and stakeholders as necessary.

Qualifications

Required:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
  • 0-9 years of related engineering experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering tasks/projects
  • Demonstrated effective engineering project management including management of budget, resources and schedule
  • Internal candidates must be from organizations outside of Operations (Casciano/Gabriel).


Preferred:
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
  • Engineering project management experience
  • Experience in submarine electronics/SONAR system development, integration, installation and test
  • Understanding of design, build, sustain process, EVMS and design tools and processes is desirable
