At Legacy, we are committed to making life better for others. We not only provide state-of-the-art care; we also provide compassion and a tireless desire to secure the wellbeing of our patients. If this is how you view your work as an OB/GYN, we invite you to consider joining our community.

The Supplemental OB Hospitalists at Legacy Salmon Creek in Vancouver, WA support the inpatient needs of the Legacy Medical Group (LMG) Maternal Fetal Medicine service, care for unassigned labor and triage patients, and provide back-up support for multiple private practice OB/GYN groups as needed (i.e. emergencies and C-section assisting). Estimated number of births per year at this site is 3200.

Additional opportunities for coverage at other sites within the Legacy system may be available if interested.

The Supplemental OB Hospitalists and the MFM providers work closely together on a daily basis, and the MFM practice has 24/7 (not in-house) coverage available. Emergency Department consults are primarily for MFM patients such as D&Cs, otherwise this position does not include Emergency Department gynecologic consults. There is a Level IV NICU that serves a vital role in the surrounding communities for high-risk pregnancies. Two anesthesia providers are in-house and present 24/7. Other responsibilities include facilitating medical student education. There are no clinic responsibilities.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Graduate of four-year U.S. Medical School or equivalent with residency completed in OB/GYN
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in OB-GYN.
  • Unrestricted license to practice medicine in Washington.
  • Current BLS from the American Heart Association required.
  • Bilingual is a plus!
  • Placement of LARC (Nexplanon) is a plus!

Required procedures/skills:

  • Full OB scope of both low and high-risk pregnancies including NSVD, VBAC, operative vaginal delivery, cesarean section, management of third stage labor, hemorrhage, level 1 ultrasound, repair of episiotomy and lacerations, etc. Gynecology procedures including D&C, and post-partum tubal sterilization.
  • In-house 24-hour shifts (designated, well-appointed call room), with a potential option for 12-hour shifts.

Follows guidelines set forth in Legacy’s Values in Action.
