Summary

Responsible for preparing/modifying wood and metal doors specific to the instructions of each order. Some preparations require permanently joining metal parts using high heat application to form a permanent bond. Others require the use of power tools such as circular saws, jig saws, drills, and sanders.

Essential Functions

  • Utilizing measuring tools to mark and prepare the material
  • Using saws, drills, and other power tools to create the necessary finished product
  • Remove any rough edges created during the modification process
  • Use electrical currents to create heat and bond metals
  • Join beams in the construction of metal frame pieces
  • Weld materials such as steel and titanium
  • Use a rod and heat to join metals
  • Operate welding machine that feeds wire to bond materials
  • Use molten metal to join two pieces of metal
  • Plan work by interpreting shop orders
  • Select and set up welding equipment
  • Ensure welds meat standards and specifications
  • Package finished product for transport
  • Interpret scope of work from documents detailing tasks to be completed
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment at all times
  • Assist Shop Manager as required
  • Other relative duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Current and valid US drivers license preferred
  • At least 1 year prior experience in a fast paced production/manufacturing environment preferred
  • Must pass pre-employment background check or drug test.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • General knowledge of warehouse manufacturing
  • Must be able to work as a team and at times independently
  • Must be able to follow directions
  • Work in a fast-paced environment, completing multiple duties with accuracy, shifting from one to another with frequent interruptions and competing deadlines
  • Exercise sound judgment, work independently and prioritize with minimal supervision
  • Must have basic hand and power tools including: hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, and cordless drills
  • Knowledge of proper safety practices when handling products, tools and power equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret basic mathematical measurements and effectively read and use a tape measure
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to report to work on time

Physical Demands

Must be able to stand and walk for much of the day. Spends more than 2/3 of time standing, kneeling/crouching/stooping, using hands and reaching. Spends approximately 1/3 of time walking and talking/hearing. Frequent lifting required of items 25-50 pounds.

Work Environment

Other conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware. Worker is subject to frequent heavy lifting.
