Given the financial nature of this position, this position has been defined as a position requiring a credit check. Prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a credit background check.

SUMMARY:
Manages and executes, for all corporate entities, treasury functions including liquidity and capital structure management, commercial and investment bank relationships, rating agency relationships, bank syndications, debt and equity offerings, leasing, credit and collections analysis and financial planning. Assists meeting overall finance department's policies and regulatory requirements, syndicates corporate revolving credit facilities, reviews preparation of long-term cash flow projections, manages financial risk as it relates to treasury operations, manages development of annual financing plan, analyzes and recommends potential alternative financing structures and explains/shows their impact on EPS, balance sheet, tax effects and financial ratios, manages the issuances of debt and equity securities, provides finance testimony in regulatory proceedings, implements hedging strategies, oversees interest rate management, assists in bank relationships, and assists in rating agency relationships.

Oversees the management of the Company's defined benefit and contribution plans, and decommissioning and retiree medical portfolios. Provides staff support for the Corporate Investment Committee.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages corporate liquidity and banking relationships, gains required regulatory approvals, provides testimony in regulatory proceedings, syndicates corporate liquidity facilities, manages cash flow forecasts, and reports to senior management on corporate liquidity.
  • Manages corporate capital structures, creates financial strategies and an annual financial plan, and develops and evaluates interest rate hedging strategies.
  • Works with financial planning on AOP and LRP, manages issuances of debt and equity securities, and reports to senior management.
  • Manages bankers, internal and external accountants, attorneys, rating agencies, and financial analysts.
  • Provides finance advice and support to Financial Planning, Accounting, and the various business units on an ad hoc basis.
  • Supports Investor Relations in its interaction with debt analysts, sell and buy side, regarding the Company's strategies, performance and issues.
  • Oversees the management of the Company's defined benefit and contribution plans, and decommissioning and retiree medical portfolios.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong knowledge of corporate finance, risk management and investment management functions.
  • Fluent in financial theory and practice encompassing NPV, IRR, DCF, GAAP statements, tax theory, derivative products, hedging strategies, credit ratios, and rating agency criteria.
  • Thorough knowledge of equity capital markets, SEC reporting requirements, securities analysis, asset management and financial modeling.
  • Demonstrated management experience and strong managerial skills.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written), presentation and negotiation skills.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors' degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent field, with nine to eleven years of related experience, to include four years of management experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.
  • Five years of experience directing financial strategies and transactions is preferred.
  • Experience at working at a utility and managing multiple complex projects is preferred.
  • Masters of Business Administration is preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for traditional supervisory responsibilities including staffing, performance management, compensation, training, development, and disciplinary actions for professional-level subordinates.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively develop and present information and respond to questions from bankers, rating agencies, debt y analysts, senior management, the Board of Directors, regulators, intervenors, and other pertinent audiences.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, government regulations and the most complex financing documents.
  • Demonstrated high-level of verbal and written communication skills

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet, database, presentation, and word processing software

ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:

  • Requires a high level of financial expertise encompassing NPV, IRR, DCF, the ability to interpret balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, federal and state income tax regulations and the ability, using this expertise, to fashion financial strategies that optimize and balance cost of capital and financial flexibility.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems, identify issues, develop sustainable processes, and handle a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Demonstrated ability to interpret a variety of information furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Occasionally required to stand and walk up to 1/3 of the time and regularly required to sit up to 2/3 of the time and talk and listen for long periods of time. Manual dexterity is required to perform computer applications and good vision is required to perform all aspects of the job. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. May require approximately 15-25% travel, due to events, announcements, and other issues.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Office environment. Events, announcements, and other issues may require travel.
