Position: Upgrade Welder Location: Tacoma, Washington 98409 Shift: 2nd Shift - 3:30PM - 12:00AM An exciting opportunity exists for an Upgrade Welder to join our Tacoma Foundry. An Upgrade Welder will be responsible for performing repair work on castings to remove defects in casting to insure product meets customer requirements. Utilize grinders and air powered chisels to clean and grind welds Utilize MIG welding and stick welding to repair voids, cracks, and/or to add stock to meet dimensional specifications including welding out-of-position Apply Volumetric Replacement welding techniques Utilize carbon arc gouging to remove excess stock and cut-out defects in the castings Apply basic knowledge of heat treatment, alloys and Weld Procedure Specifications Qualifications: Prefer High School Diploma Ability to work with limited direct supervision Ability to work independently or in a team environment Ability to read blueprints, interpret work instructions, and customer specifications Must be able to pass the Upgrade Welder technical exams Experience: Minimum 6 months experience as a Welder Prefer Certifications in GMAW and SMAW with mild steel, alloy steel, and stainless steel Skills and Knowledge: Welding processes and procedures Able to read and interpret work instructions and customer requirements/specifications Knowledge of casting repair techniques and methods Ability to Weld with SMAW and FCAW in the 2G Horizontal and 3G Vertical up Positions Ability to do window closure through wall repairs on Radiography (RE) grade examination castings Previous experience with Casting defect removal (arcing) using the ACAG Air Carbon Arc Gouging process Why join our team at Bradken?
