Alfred State College invites applications for the position of Regional Admissions Counselor based in the New York metro area. This position will support a full range of first year and transfer admissions activities.

The successful candidate, to be regionally based in NYC, is a key member of the admissions team who will help achieve the enrollment goals for Alfred State. They will build educational partnerships with students, parents, and school counselors concerning all aspects of Alfred State. Responsibilities include meeting with potential students and personal follow up by assisting the students through the admissions process. Participate in recruitment activities on and off campus. Review applications for admission. Involvement in on-going admissions programs and projects. The primary travel territory will be New York City; travel to other areas both in and out of state may also be required. Approximately 7 weeks of travel in the fall and 2-3 weeks in the spring is expected.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Demonstrated experience in college admissions or related area within higher education
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability and willingness to live and travel in the New York metropolitan area
  • Ability and willingness to work from a home office
  • Demonstrated effective written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to travel overnight and work evenings and weekends

Preferred:

  • Previous experience counseling/working with New York City students, families and/or CBO's
  • Spanish proficiency
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
