Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement solutions on systems, of which the data can be sent to Synchro or the current approved government Software (SW) configuration Dashboards for tripwire monitoring.

  • Solutions shall be coordinated with the Project and Program Office before implementation. Use tools available on the systems (Nagios, Niagara Files, etc.) to mine Health & Status (H&S) information; and automatically send that information back to Synchro or the current approved government Software (SW) configuration Dashboards for ingestion and trip wiring.

    • Monitor this feed to ensure the system is properly sending data.

  • Use Synchro or the current approved government Software (SW) configuration for patching Windows and Linux systems. To include approving patches and maintaining patching groups within the Synchro or the current approved government Software (SW) configuration application.

  • Track all systems and make sure they are checking in to Synchro or the current approved government Software (SW) configuration patching systems.

  • Use Synchro or the current approved government Software (SW) configuration to maintain Software Configuration Management (CM) for IO FoS deployed systems.

  • Maintain the functionality of Synchro or the current approved government Software (SW) configuration and Synchro or the current approved government Software (SW) configuration Dashboards.

  • Monitor data being ingested by Fleet Data Distribution Server (FDDS) and Synchro or the current approved government Software (SW) configuration.

  • Ensure ingestion algorithms are correctly ingesting data and adjust algorithms if the data format changes.

  • Perform routine system administrator functions including, but not limited to maintaining accounts; monitoring and maintaining network performance and functionality; performing auditing and archiving; performing backup and restoration; performing Information IAV updates; developing and installing bug fixes and updating virus definitions.

  • Receive, evaluate, and implement new data points for Synchro or the current approved government Software (SW) configuration Dashboards that are required to be monitored.

  • Create new and adjust existing tripwires in Synchro or the current approved government Software (SW) configuration Dashboards to ensure the deployed systems are secure, are working, and the Navy Operators know how to use them.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related discipline (e.g. Software Engineering, Computer Engineering)

  • Two to six (2-6) years of professional Systems Administration/Configuration experience in the field or in a related area within DoD/Navy programs.

  • Hands on experience with troubleshooting Linux operating systems and networks

  • Ability to write Bash or Python scripts.

  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems in a RedHat infrastructure environment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot networking problems in an on-premise environment.

  • Experience with Virtual Machines, RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and AWS

  • Candidate must have a TS/SCI clearance.

  • Pursuant to the various government contractual requirements, all applicants must be U.S. Citizens.

  • Noise conditions range from very quiet to very noisy.

  • Prolonged use of computer (typing/keyboarding).

  • Frequently required to sit for long periods of time, stand, walk, and may occasionally lift and move at least 25 pounds.
