Overview

The Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) organization is the engine that powers Microsoft's cloud services. The Datacenter (DC) Demand Planning Team is looking for a talented Senior Demand Planner to join our team. This role is responsible for driving best practices in data analysis and demand forecasting to support executive decisions and facilitate strategic recommendations.

This role will be responsible for analyzing future data center demands leveraging statistical data analysis to balance customer and engineering requirements in order to optimize demand plans. In addition, this role will be responsible for identifying demand needs and coordinating across engineering, operations, and finance teams to evaluate and recommend potential solutions, delivering robust analysis and recommendations to partners and executives.

Responsibilities

  • Support data center demand planning for new region expansions and launches.
  • Manage total DC demand across geographies, balancing key infrastructure dependencies
  • Deliver demand planning analysis and recommendations in Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) rhythms
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement planning improvements drawing on statistical methods, demand planning principles, S&OP best practices, and emerging software technology capabilities.
  • Manage key relationships across a cross functional set of stakeholders to ensure we collaboratively improve, adapt, and adopt our processes and support software systems to support business requirements.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics predictive analytics, research)

    o OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

    o OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research)

    o OR equivalent experience.


Other Requirements:

These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Passionate about Cloud Computing and willing to dive into in-depth technical discussions.
  • Project Management experience managing the implementation of a medium to large Supply Chain Systems projects, including forecasting, demand planning, supply planning, purchasing / sourcing
  • Experience in Demand planning and/or Supply chain management and good understanding of different supply chain models and being able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Technical certifications relevant to data analysis/BI


Applied Sciences IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
