**Warehouse Volunteer**

| **Quick Overview**: St. Francis Center is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic volunteer that is ready to learn and willing to dedicate 1-2 days a week to help support the Warehouse Team with general receiving and processing of good and materials.

**This position is only offered in person.**

**Mission**: St Francis Center is a non-profit organization that provides relief and support to homeless and extremely low-income individuals and families in Los Angeles. Much more than a soup kitchen or a food pantry, we offer a unique range of services to sustain and empower those in need and engaging volunteer opportunities in Los Angeles. Welcoming all with joy, dignity, and compassion, we dedicate ourselves every day to Serving Hope in our community!

**Impact**: Last year the need for SFCs services increased sharply due to the pandemic and economic hardship on our community. We experienced a staggering 70% increase in the number of visits to our pantry program, accommodating 39,583 visits from families, individuals, students, seniors, and veterans. To meet this dramatic increase in need, we ramped up food rescue operations and expanded to new partnerships to rescue a record 1.9 million pounds of food. We also partnered with local organizations to provide food to 48 pop-up, drive-through pantry programs aimed at combatting food insecurity in food desert communities located around the city of Los Angeles. Our new partnership with Helping Hands delivers our pantry program boxes to our most vulnerable guests, including those who are immunocompromised, elderly, disabled, or diagnosed with COVID-19, in order to help them avoid being exposed to the outside world.

**Roles and Responsibilities:**

* Sort and organize donated products

* Move Palletes throughout facility using a pallet jack

* Assist warehouse staff with clean up and organization

We are flexible with the scheduling, we only ask that our volunteer meets the minimum of 1-2 days per week from **7:30 am - 9:30 am.**

**Requirements:**

* Ability to lift boxes over 35 pounds

* Effective communication skills

* Ability to interact professionally with team members
