Description

Position Summary

The warehouse shipping and receiving associate is responsible for moving, locating, relocating, stacking, and counting items in a safe and efficient manner with and without the use of a forklift. In addition, maybe required to work as Put-Away Associate as needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Shipping products with 100% accuracy; packing and shipping of all orders, set requests, and mailings.
  • Ability to adapt to shipment for signs if damage, and bring any issues to the direct supervisors
  • Assist team members with order picking, shipping, and receipt of materials.
  • Must be able to operate a barcode scanner and use warehouse software system.
  • Maintain minimum units per hour productivity requirements and works with a sense of urgency.
  • Responsible for operating and inspecting warehouse equipment at the beginning and of every shift to perform role and reporting any issues to supervisor.
  • Act professionally and remain focused while working
  • Safely operate all warehouse equipment
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Ensures workspace is clean at the end of each shift and free of any trip hazards.
  • Perform cleaning activities throughout the warehouse during slow periods and downtimes. This includes using broom and dustpan through the warehouse.
  • Maintain a positive attitude
  • Complies with all Witmer Public Safety Group Policies and Procedures.
  • Performs any other duties or projects assigned by the management team.
Requirements

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Previous experience with Transportation Management Systems, and Shipping software; as well as knowledge of dimensional weight characteristics.
  • Ability to recognize items which should ship via an alternative mode; for example an item which is too heavy and/or bulky to ship small parcel and should be switched to LTL.
  • Experience in a similar position working in a production/warehouse environment and knowledge of proper packing techniques; that will ensure there is no damage to the products while in transit.
  • Previous experience in shipping of Hazardous Materials preferred.
  • Required to operate machinery following all safety rules and regulations.
  • Must be able to use wave lift and be comfortable with heights.
  • Knowledge of inventory and quality control.
  • Ability to stand and walk for 8+ hours per day.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, and twist repetitively.
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision.
  • Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply and divide numbers quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to read and understand labels written in English.

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
