Who we are::
Wilmington Animal Hospital is looking for a veterinarian to join our small animal practice! We are a full-service practice that provides excellent care to canines and felines with a focus on total body health and preventive medicine. Our dedicated team of doctors and support staff have been providing excellent care to pets and their families in our community since 1940.
More about WAH:
- We offer a board-certified radiologist 1-2 days per week, chiropractor when needed, home visits, board-certified surgeon, dental radiology, electrocautery, ultrasound, and a vessel-sealing device for surgery.
- We see emergencies and urgent care visits during the day. There are no on-call or after hours requirements for our doctors as we refer those out to our local ER and specialty centers.
- We have 30 minute appointments for wellness or sick and 20 minute rechecks or shelter exams.
- We have biweekly staff meetings where we have speakers and drug reps giving presentations or we have educational presentations and discuss hospital business.
- Our doctors have a separate team meeting to discuss cases, concerns, and we make decisions about protocols together.
- We work closely with our local animal rescues including Humane Animal Partners and Buddy For Life Rescue.
Our Associate Veterinarian role:
- New graduates or experienced doctors are welcome to apply!
- We offer a mentorship program to new grads and growth opportunities for all of our doctors.
- Shorter shifts seeing appointments has always been a feature of our practice to allow doctors ample time to address labs and call backs.
- An interest in surgery and dentistry is a plus! We are happy to provide mentorship experience for new graduates.
- On surgery days, our doctors focus on surgery without having appointments (unless the doctor prefers to do both).
- We pair approximately 2.5 (sometimes 3) techs with each doctor, we have 3 LVTs and we have 4 exam rooms.

Where we are::
Our practice is located a few minutes from I-95 and 495 in the Bellefonte area for an easy commute from East MD, South NJ, Middletown DE, Philadelphia and Chester County, PA. There are plenty of activities to do near our practice including Bellevue State Park, disc golf course, tennis center, arts center, restaurants, casino, and the Bellevue Pond walking trail around Bellevue Pond is right across the street. Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington DC, and NYC are also a 2 hour drive from the Bellefonte area.
