The agency's purpose is to establish, maintain and operate progressive programs and services which are residential, educational, vocational, and rehabilitative in nature. The ideal goal is the attainment of normalization, in all aspects of life, for each individual we support.

Maryhaven's Transportation Department transports individuals with intellectual disabilities to/from school and home.

Responsibilities will include:

* Drives agency vehicle; transports the individuals to and from sites.

* Observes all NYS traffic regulations.

* Provides supervision for the individuals on the bus; knows all of the individuals on bus route by sight and name.

* Writes and submits to Transportation office all OPWDD non-reportable incidents as they occur; 147's will be completed jointly by the Transportation office and the day program.

* Maintains a daily attendance sheet of all of the individuals on route.

* Responsible for calling in absences of individuals to office staff

* Accurately performs vehicle pre-trip inspection.

* High School diploma/Equivalent preferred.

* Must meet 19A DMV requirements (physical and driving).

* Maintain a valid NYS Class C license with P and S endorsement with Air Brakes within agency criteria.

* Obtain and maintain SCIP-R certification for MR/DD runs; SCIP-R preferred for MI runs.
