Henry Ford College presents an opportunity for the Director of Health, Education, and Human Services. Under the supervision of the Dean of the School of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Director of Health, Education, and Human Services is primarily responsible for the general operational functions and processes of the academic and career programs in both the Health and the Education & Human Services departments at Henry Ford College (HFC): Health: Allied Health, EMS, Medical Assistant, Medical Insurance Specialist, Ophthalmic Technician, Physical Therapist Assistant, Radiographer, Respiratory Therapist, and Surgical Technologist

Education & Human Services: Pre-Education, Exercise Science & Wellness, Public Health, and Social Work

The Director works collaboratively with faculty and staff to ensure that the business, operations, functions, and services of these departments and programs run effectively, efficiently, and in a manner that is appropriate, accurate, timely, and consistent with the strategic goals, policies, and practices of the School of HHS, the College, and any relevant accreditation agencies. The Director represents the college in the community to establish and maintain effective relationships, partnerships, and agreements. The Director supports the College's mission, vision, and values while fostering a cooperative relationship with faculty, staff, students, and the community. This position requires a commitment to diversity, excellence, student engagement and success. Master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in relevant health, education, or administration discipline. Current Michigan license, registration, or certification in a professional area represented in the School of Health and Human Services

(or attained within 30 days of employment). Demonstrated experience with program accreditation. Two years of work experience in the related field. Two years full-time (or equivalent) teaching experience in an accredited program at the college level. Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and excellent analytical skills. Must have a collaborative management style, demonstrated ability to maintain a positive working relationship with college personnel and representatives of various external agencies, and possess the ability to work effectively with students and staff in a multicultural environment.

A doctorate Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a relevant health, education, or administration discipline preferred. Relevant management or supervisory experience. Experience teaching or working in a community college setting.

Working with the Dean of HHS to provide general administrative direction for the Health, Education, and Human Services programs. Managing operational functions, practices, and processes related to the Health, Education, and Human Services programs. Organizing and coordinating with faculty on-going assessment of programs and processes to assure program effectiveness and alignment to the strategic plan. Supervising the development, implementation, and staffing of the class schedules in accordance with strategic enrollment management initiatives established with the Dean. Coordinating with program leads in the processes required to maintain program accreditations. Working collaboratively with the Dean to maintain current and develop new clinical contracts and affiliations for consistency within HHS. Providing input into curriculum design, review, and revision processes. Participating in academic program meetings, institutional governance, and/or community service activities as appropriate to the mission, vision values and Strategic Plan of HFC. Collaborating with program leads for program reviews, assessment, revisions, and new program options. Cooperating with other members of the faculty in serving the needs of students. Participating in departmental, school and college meetings. Participating in the recruitment of students, adjunct faculty, and staff. Promoting professional development for faculty as well as assisting with community education programs. Maintaining a current knowledge of educational methodologies through their own continuing professional development. Coordinating student success activities and processes to meet the needs of students with diverse backgrounds and abilities both in the classroom and in the college environment. Assisting in resolving student issues, appeals, and/or complaints. Supervising adjunct faculty in the Health, Education, and Human Services programs, working to resolve issues or concerns as they may arise. Serving as a member of the School’s Instructional Leadership Team. Participating as an informed and active member of the Academic Affairs Leadership Council, working collaboratively with the Vice President of Academic Affairs as well as the other council members. Representing the School and its programs on college-wide and community-based teams as necessary or assigned. Participating in College functions such as graduation as well as other recruitment, admissions, advising, or alumni events as requested. Other duties as assigned.
