We are seeking an experienced and passionate engineering manager with prior technical hands-on knowledge. This role involves guiding the engineering team in the design, development, implementation and deployment of features and services. The ideal candidate will be an inspiring leader, a technical expert, and an effective communicator, dedicated to fostering an environment of continuous improvement and good development practices.

Our software engineering teams are owners and operators of service lines. They build, deploy, and keep services running in production. You will be responsible for managing one or more software engineering teams.

What will you learn?

Building and operating resilient services that are observable with key metrics and visualize them in Grafana dashboards.

Leveraging AWS services such as EKS, S3, EC2, RDS, and Mongo db.

Designing and writing HTTP and RESTful APIs.

Designing reusable deployment pipelines in Spinnaker using kustomize and pipeline templates.

Helping other engineers to build software better, faster, and safely.

What We Use Today

Java, Python, Go, JavaScript, react, bash, AWS, Azure, Prometheus, Loki, Grafana, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, Ansible, Spinnaker, and git.

Responsibilities

Lead a team of engineers, providing technical guidance and career development support.

Participate in technical design discussions, review code developed by engineers and provide feedback to keep the bar high.

Lead teams that deliver multiple initiatives and influence roadmap creation and execution.

Foster a culture of continuous learning and deepen good engineering principles in the team.

Develop and maintain key metrics on both the systems and the team.

Qualifications

Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in software development.

At least 3-5 years of experience in a leadership or management role within a software engineering team.

Working understanding of event driven architecture and micro services.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to navigate cross-functional team dynamics.

Must have a good understanding of cloud infrastructure in AWS or Azure.

Interest in developing services as well as the underlying infrastructure.

Experience programming in Java, .Net, Python, Go, C++.

Education:

Masters Degree in Computer Science or other related field of study (preferred).

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or other related field of study (required).
