In addition, they are using their expertise in interdisciplinary research centers across the university.

Carnegie Mellon University's department of Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Research Scientist to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by assisting with the development of physics-based models for understanding the function of protein receptors. In addition, you will develop machine learning models for the prediction of receptor activity, and such other tasks that are assigned to you.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Performing molecular dynamic simulations on proteins
  • Documenting and reporting the results on the efficacy of different drugs in proteins.
  • Publish results in premium journals.
  • Working with colleagues around the country supervising other student researchers.
  • Other duties as assigned.

You should demonstrate:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree required. Degree in medicine preferred.
  • Clinical knowledge and computer science knowledge is preferred.
  • Knowledge of receptor function, specifically how G Protein Coupled Receptors work required.
  • Ability to perform MD simulation and machine learning on proteins.
  • Ability to analyze simulation data and interpret protein ligand interactions.
Requirements:
  • Successful background check
  • Existing publications of medical/clinical results
