Higginbotham, a privately held, independent insurance and financial services firm that ranks within the top 20 nationwide, has an immediate opening for an Accounts Receivable Specialistfor our Fort Worthoffice.

The Financial Services Accounting Specialist is responsible for processing and importing the billing transactions for our Financial Services Day 2 department and reconcile cash on a daily basis. They will also provide reporting, analysis and support for the Director of Financial Services Accounting.

Essential Tasks:

  • Record all incoming deposits in numerous bank accounts
  • Post all payments to the proper client or the proper GL code
  • Identify and record a variety of different payment types, ex. commission, payments, fees, reimbursements
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding and knowledge of the accounting process, especially as it relates to company accounts receivable
  • Provide timely communication to proper person for any discrepancies in payment amounts
  • Manage the Accounts Receivable Aging report to ensure timely collection of all agency bill items
  • Communicate directly with the service team on any discrepancies in payment vs invoicing
Non-essential Tasks:
  • Maintain spreadsheets with carrier/broker information for use in completing your job
  • Maintain bank information for various locations
  • Maintain historical records by electronically scanning and filing documents
  • Continuously identify ways to eliminate waste in current processes and improve efficiency / effectiveness
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential

  • Good understanding and strong work experience with insurance accounting background preferred
  • Proficient in math as well as reconciling and balancing

  • Proficient in all Microsoft products with a heavy emphasis on Excel
Physical Requirements:
