We're seeking a dynamic and growth-minded talent to join us in the role of Payroll Lead to prepare, analyze, and process the semi-monthly and monthly international payroll. You'll play a key role in our team, collaborating closely with other incredible and talented individuals. About This Role at Momentum

As a Payroll Lead on our Payroll team at Momentum, your days will be dynamic and filled with opportunities to contribute to our mission. Here's a glimpse into what your overall responsibilities might look like:

  • Lead the processing, analysis, and reconciliation of semi-monthly and monthly payroll for designated companies.
  • Ensure timely settlement of payroll and validate files transmitted to ADP.
  • Generate and prepare reports for validation and review, both pre and post-processing of all payrolls.
  • Execute final termination payments in accordance with company policy and state regulations.
  • Upload expenses and other transactions into Workday accurately and efficiently.
  • Conduct research and respond to internal and external inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Perform complex payroll functions, including managing garnishments and local taxes.
  • Initiate manual checks and stop payments as needed, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist in monitoring payroll metrics and maintaining logs to track key performance indicators.
  • Stay updated on legal and policy changes, conducting periodic self-audits to maintain data security and confidentiality.
  • Provide guidance and training to the payroll team as a knowledgeable and experienced resource.
  • Review, analyze, and propose improvements to control processes to enhance accuracy.
  • Document existing and enhanced processes clearly and comprehensively.
  • Prepare and oversee the creation of various reports, including standard and ad hoc reports, queries, and audits to ensure adherence to data integrity standards.
  • Prepare federal, state, and local tax reconciliations following each payroll cycle with precision.
  • Serve as a backup leader for reconciling and reviewing tax forms 940, 941, and non-supported returns.
  • Contribute to designing, testing, and implementing system enhancements or new systems to improve payroll processes.
  • Provide leadership to payroll-related audits as needed.
  • Promptly escalate matters involving unusual or suspicious circumstances for appropriate resolution.
  • Collaborate effectively with People & Culture, Operations, Finance, and senior management on payroll-related issues.
  • Lead departmental special projects and analyses, leveraging analytical skills and expertise.
  • Fulfill any other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

We're looking for someone who:
  • Holds a Bachelor's degree ideally in Business, Accounting, or a related field. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
  • Demonstrates a proven track record of success in payroll administration, with a focus on Workday preferred.
  • Exhibits a demonstrated history in configuring, testing, and optimizing payroll functionalities to align with organizational needs.
  • Displays a strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and compliance requirements, with UK or other international payroll experience being advantageous.
  • Has the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, while navigating ambiguity and remaining agile
  • Excels in effective communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrates excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Shows proficiency in using Workday HCM and Workday Payroll modules, including configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical skills, advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge, and attention to detail while maintaining focus on highly repetitive tasks.

When considering experience for this role, we typically find a great fit with candidates who have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in the specified field. Additionally, experience in a holding company and/or in a start-up environment is a definite plus.

The base salary range for this position may vary based on location. Actual compensation will be determined by role, level, and location, considering additional factors such as job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. For roles eligible for remote work, the base salary is tailored to the designated work location. In addition to the base salary, candidates may be eligible to receive a discretionary annual bonus, determined based on both the company's business performance and individual contributions. The People & Culture team will provide specific details during the hiring process.
