Just-Evotec Biologics is hiring an experienced and tactical medical/scientific executive for its newly created position of VP, Product Development, who will be responsible for leading biotherapeutic product teams from discovery through clinical development and ultimately licensure. This role will partner closely with cross-functional and highly matrixed teams across the company in functional areas, including Discovery Research, Preclinical development, Process Development, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Quality, to ensure the seamless development of internal and client-based biotherapeutics form initial discovery through clinical validation.

The successful candidate will be part of an energizing and supportive biopharmaceutical culture engaged in cutting edge biotherapeutics development and continuous manufacturing technologies. As a seasoned operating leader, this individual will be the product leader for current and new global programs from discovery stage through clinical development phases and through market approval. This individual will also oversee the global governance of these integrated programs. This is a vital role to help shape and drive the future successful highly integrated product development activities across the company. The successful candidate must be a forward-thinker who is extremely focused and capable of managing an evolving strategy to anticipate the specific challenges related to biotherapeutics development activities with a strong ability to work with global cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with and lead, as needed, cross functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage pipeline projects for product development across the development continuum of discovery, preclinical and clinical development Provide oversight and input for integrated cross-functional product-focused programs that span across multiple sites/functions within the Evotec group Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet scientific, clinical, quality, business goals and objectives. Develop mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving Lead the strategy and oversee development of target product profile for early-stage R&D assets and clinical stage programs Be a transparent, effective communicator internally and externally with stakeholders, obtaining engagement to ensure the end products or processes will solve the business problems in biotherapeutic drug development Regularly communicate and conduct briefings with senior or executive leadership regarding on-going operations and strategic initiatives Work with executive leadership team in preparing presentations to management, Board, clients and other stakeholders as needed Effectively represent Just-Evotec Biologics both internally and externally to the scientific/medical and business communities Partner effectively with all executives and personnel across the organization. Build and maintain a culture of accountability, discipline, compliance, responsiveness, inclusiveness, and respect.

Preferred Requirements

At least 10 years of experience overseeing the development of biotherapeutic candidate molecules across preclinical, translational, and early/late-stage clinical development. Preference for candidates with immunology/infectious disease experience. Candidates with PK/PD and bioanalytical backgrounds are also desirable Demonstrated ability to lead programs from discovery/pre-IND through at least Phase 3 for biotherapeutics Thorough understanding of all the requirements and processes needed in the drug development process from pre-IND through market approval for biotherapeutic molecules. Specific subject matter expertise in Preclinical, Research/Discovery or Clinical Development desired. Experience with FDA interactions a plus Ability to multi-task and work toward fixed deadlines in a fast paced, dynamic, and demanding environment. Strong ability to influence and lead in a matrixed and remote/multi-site organization Passionate about providing exceptional products and services to patients Strong presentation and communication skills, having established a credible reputation within the biopharmaceutical industry A high performing individual contributor who at the same time is an excellent team-player. A proven record as a builder, leader, and retainer of exceptional teams Has shown an ability to forge and maintain successful collaborations with academic and industry partners Demonstrate the highest standard of personal and professional integrity and ethics

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in science or related field required. PhD, M.D. or advanced degree strongly preferred in biological sciences.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be $190,000 to $260,000; Base salary offered may vary depending on individual’s skills, experience and competitive market value.
